ABOUT YAM ON!
Yam On! — the experimental, indie pop sensation known for infectious melodies, frivolity, and absurdism— is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated album, Feed the Meter of Love. Formerly Lard Dog & The Band of Shy, the group has captivated global audiences with a unique blend of eccentric lyrics and multi-media performances, garnering comparisons to legendary acts such as Devo, They Might Be Giants, and the B52's.
In 2020, lead singer and outsider artist Steven Erdman embarked on a transformative journey during the COVID pandemic, immersing himself in the whimsical world of yams—and built The Yamatorium art installation in an underground bunker in West Philadelphia. Emerging with a new artistic identity, Erdman has collaborated with star talents, including La La Brooks (The Crystals), Marshall Allen (Sun Ra Arkestra), Rebecca Pitcher (Phantom of the Opera), Sonia De Los Santos (Latin Grammy Nominee), The Villalobos Brothers (Carnegie Hall/Lincoln Center), and Allyson Briggs (Fleur Seule). |
This adventurous album showcases imaginative compositions that defy obvious genre categorization with elements of bubblegum pop, experimental jazz, country, spoken word, children's and more. Twelve tracks are produced by Erdman along with his long-time collaborators Jeremy Beck, Boz Boorer, Jamie Saft, Curtis Hasselbring. Aaron Steinberg, and Jeremy Chatzky. Feed the Meter of Love delivers an auditory adventure that is sure to captivate listeners of any age—from kids swept away by whimsical wordplay (yes, there's a song about a paperclip!) to adults hooked by catchy melodies and clever arrangements— anyone can experience the experience that is Yam On!
Having performed on renowned stages around the globe, including Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and the Strawberry Festival in China, Erdman has earned international acclaim for his extravagant, multi-media theatrical productions. Feed the Meter of Love is scheduled for release on July 7, 2023 on indie label GO Records. |
Prepare to embark on an oblique adventure through an uncharted musical universe,
where frivolity and absurdism reign supreme.
Yam On!
